Trying to host a website or web app on a Windows machine? Use a built-in feature – IIS!
Internet Information Services (IIS) is an extensible web server made by Microsoft. It is a feature available to all Windows users. We’re using Windows 10 for our tutorial, and older versions of Windows may have different graphics. To enable it, head to Control Panel.
Head to Programs, then, under Programs and Features, click on “Turn Windows features on or off”.
Once the window has finished loading, expand the menu for “Internet Information Services”. Expand “Web Management Tools” and fill the check box for “IIS Management Console”. Then fill the box for “World Wide Web Services” if it isn’t already filled in.
Click “OK” and wait for the changes to be applied.
And you’re done! Check out the next tutorial to learn how to host a static website locally using the newly-enabled IIS Manager.
